In this post,i will explain how you can configure your D link modem or Router to connect to internet in windows.D link modem can be connected to internet using USB or LAN.Using LAN is faster and easy when compared connecting using USB.
Before you start configuring,make sure you have username and password of your service provider.If you are from India,you may be using BSNL and you will get your username and password from BSNL office near you.In most cases,they will create the settings for you.You only need to connect the modem to PCand it will automatically get connected.If it is not configured,then you can use following step to configure it.

Configuring Dlink modem
Before you start configuring,make sure you have username and password of your service provider.If you are from India,you may be using BSNL and you will get your username and password from BSNL office near you.In most cases,they will create the settings for you.You only need to connect the modem to PCand it will automatically get connected.If it is not configured,then you can use following step to configure it.- Connect your modem to PC using LAN.
- Open any browser and type http://192.168.1.1 in URL box and click go.
- Enter username and password as 'admin'.admin is the default username and password for entering the setup.Don't use the username and password given by internet service provider instead admin.
- Click advanced setup and select WAN.
- We need to create new WAN connection.For that click add.
- The first window will be ATM PVC Configuration .Its configuration is given below
- Select VPI: [0-255] - 0
- VCI: [32-65535] - 35
- Service category - UBR without PCR
- Enable quality of service - unchecked and click next
- In next window,select connection.The settings is given below.
- type of network protocol - PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)
- Encapsulation Mode - LLC/SNAP-BRIDGING .Click next.
- Next window will be PPP username and password.The settings is given below.
- PPP username: 'username given by your internet service provider'.
- PPP Password:'Password given by your internet service provider'
- PPPoE Service Name: Add name of your ISP.If you are a bsnl customer,add 'BSNL' there.
- Authentication Method: AUTO.
- Dial on demand (with idle timeout timer) - unchecked.
- PPP IP extension - unchecked.
- Enable KeepAlive - unchecked.
- Use Static IP Address - unchecked.
- Retry PPP password on authentication error -unchecked
- Enable PPP Debug Mode - unchecked.
- Bridge PPPoE Frames Between WAN and Local Ports (Default Enabled) - checked.
- MTU[1-65535]: 1492.
- Click next
- Next window is for Network Address Translation Settings.It setting are given below.
- Enable NAT - checked.
- Enable Firewall -checked.
- Enable IGMP Multicast -unchecked.
- Enable WAN Service - checked.
- Service Name -pppoe_0_0_35_1(will get automatically filled).
- Click next and save.
- Click save and reboot.Now your modem will reboot and get connected to internet.
Connecting DLINK modem to internet using USB
